I am taking my kids to QLD from Vic at Xmas. We use to live there about 3 years ago but moved back to sunny ( not ) Victoria. Anyway They want to do the theme park stuff again so we need to stay around the gold coast area. Any one with any suggestions that wont cost me the $650 per week the gold coast caravan parks want for a tent site. ( What a rip, as my son would say ) Any ides anyone Help !!!

Have you tried up around jumpinpin way but around xmas just about every where on the Japanese Gold coast is a "RIP" as you say. personally I avoid the place during the holiday season:P

there are some great QLD National parks in the hills behind the Gold Coast and if you wanted to go further a field try Lamington National Park, Springbrook, Binna Burra or North Tamborine they all have camping sites. They might also be camping around Hinze Dam and thats a pretty spot too. Hope that helps.
